Whippet Whirl Sheffield – October 2019

For a weekend forecast for moody skies and raincoats, the October 2019 Whippet Whirl Sheffield saw a sea of happy noses zooming around in the sun. Speedy paws made short work of the muddy grass, flying around the huddle of humans without a care in the world.

As all previous whirl goers know, it’s always important to carry lots of treats and to make sure that you know where to give the best scratches to ensure you receive a maximum amount of pointy nosed cuddles throughout the afternoon.

Treats or no treats, there’s always hounds that’ll pose for the camera in the sun. Though we do look to be missing a few ears!

For a breed of dog known for their finicky desires for the warm and dry, it was difficult to spot a hound wrapped up in a jumper as they scampered around! A few puppies and the Italian Greyhounds came wrapped up warm, as well as gorgeous six month old Winnie who sported a fabulous purple jumper from favourites Redhound for Dogs.

The last few months have seen a massive influx of puppies here at Whippet Whirl Sheffield and we’re loving it! It’s hard not to get broody for another bundle of lanky legs and floppy ears when you see darlings like these.

It’s also very easy to forget memories of devoured Henry Hoovers (a story for another time!) when you get to photograph little ones wrestling their way into lifelong friendships.

Wearing his best StarDogDesigns bandana, Ziggy led the welcoming committee, making sure to give all the newcomers a good sniff. It’s almost two years ago that our Ziggy went to his first whirl and look where we are now!

I was also very happy to meet the one and only Iggy Pup having seen his owners post about him a few months ago in the Facebook group. He was a beauty and I deeply approve of his name (not that I’m at all biased with my own Ziggy Stardog!)

Last but not least, we also saw a few of those strange looking whippets milling around the park, some who ventured over to see what all the commotion was about including this beautiful rescue spaniel and her sibling who were good as gold, staying on lead as the zooms commenced around them.

Our next meet up will be on the 3rd November 2019 at Graves Park in the usual place.
A regular off lead meet up for whippets and similarly sized sighthounds
